Food, glorious food!

Food is always beautiful and fun in Japan. Usually it's really good. Sometimes, it's just plain unappetizing.

Here is a restaurant that apparently specializes in meat. It was across from the shabu shabu place we ate at in Osaka.

American Breakfast

The American Breakfast on the left has very runny scrambled eggs (runny eggs are common here), and some salads on the side. The Japanese breakfast below has good fish, good chicken, some other interesting, fishy, vegetabe-ish dishes, and a very unappetizing, slimy cold rice gruel with seaweed.

Bento Box at concert hall
At most concert venues, we each get a Bento box of all sorts of interesting foods. Anything unidentifiable is likely something made of fish. There are strange pickles, usually a bit of chicken or pork, and rice. I usually like most of it. Some in our group.... not so much.

At many, many restaurants the food is shown out front in plastic. This photo shows four of an array of several dozen sushi choices in one window.
