Niigata, bullet trains and snow.

We're in Morioka now, but only after much adventure that involved lots of snow. After an arduous, snowy bus ride to our concert venue, we played a great concert to a small, enthusiastic, and decidedly intrepid audience. Can't believe they came out in that weather. It was snowing when we left the hotel, and snowed harder and harder on through the evening. We got on the bus after the concert and had to sit for 2 1/2 hours to wait for an accident to clear. Everyone was incredibly patient. We finally got back to Niigata after 2:00 a.m., then had to be up and on our way to Morioka this morning.

Here's Warren in the little bathroom in Niigata.

This is our hotel in Niigata.

And the Niigata personhole cover.

Niigata fishing boats.....

Here's Warren at the end of the walk along the river in Niigata. Ferry terminal is across the way to the right.

Bicycles at the train station. There are thousands of bikes here. Nobody wears a helmet. Bikes are left unlocked.

Here's Warren in front of our bullet train. This is one of the newer models.  Very sleek. Warren is sleek, too, but not as new as the train.  ; )

And, here's a train conductor. Uniforms are big here.

This little guy was on one of the trains. It's cold here, but no real penguins.
Here's a snowy scene outside the bullet train. Not bad as we zip along at around 130 mph.

No monkey sightings yet, but I am ever watchful.
