Out and about in Niigata

Here we are on 12/10, newly arrived at our second tour stop.  Each city delights in its creative man-hole covers.  Patty posted the Itami City one, and here is the one in Niigata.

Emil is waving at the boat station (like bus station) along the canal.  That's our Niigata Grand Hotel in the background.

I found a snowman along the canal.  He was so cute, that he had a face on both sides.  I liked this side, with the water, bridge, and boat in the background.

Jan and I brave the elements and walked for a few hours around town.  You can see the Next21 building (with the pyramid top) which became our directional landmark.  We ate at a little sopa shop in a back alley, discovered an underground shopping mall, as well as a few pedestrian-only covered streets for shopping.  The sidewalks were a bit slick, but we were dressed for the slushy snow.
